INTERVISTA A Fujiko Takasugi, DJ GIAPPONESE SCELTA PER LA SFILATA DI ALESSANDRA MARCHI

Abbiamo conosciuto Fujiko alla sfilata di Alessandra Marchi che White ha organizzato a Febbraio in collaborazione con il comune di Milano. La musica ha decisamente trasformato la serata, era quasi impossibile non muoversi al ritmo di electro e house messa in pista dalla DJ giapponese Fujiko Takasugi. La Dj ha maturato esperienze in diverse città internazionali, partendo da Kobe, passando per NY, in cui ha vissuto e lavorato in locali della grande mela per diversi anni, tornando poi a Tokyo fino ad approdare a Milano e Shanghai. Viaggiare crea sicuramente un mondo di incontri e sollecitazioni che sono fondamentali per qualsiasi artista, sopratutto per chi, come Fujiko, mette nel suo lavoro una passione e un’attenzione enorme, partendo dal legame che un brano possa avere con l’altro fino a definire il mood della serata in generale. Il sound design è ormai essenziale nella definizione e buon riuscita di una festa. Quando la musica è come si direbbe in gergo milanese “giustissima”, è come uno stimolo continuo da cui non riesci a scollegarti perché è un crescendo di sensazioni che fanno sì che il corpo, si muova senza che uno se ne accorga. Fujiko è stata invitata per la prima volta a Milano nel 2007 per fare da supporto sonoro alla collezione di Ugo Cacciatori, successivamente per il salone del Mobile e feste note della nightlife milanese come “Punks wear Prada”,  Muse Magazine, Trussardi e così via. Oltre a queste collaborazioni Fujiko è anche Music director a Restir negozio di moda giapponese, in cui la dj fa un lavoro di soundhunting nella selezione della musica che si ascolta nella boutique. Le abbiamo fatto qualche domanda per capire un pò di più sulla sua personalità:

M: È sempre stato un tuo sogno fare la dj o è stata una cosa nata per caso?
Fujiko: Ho iniziato a collezionare dischi in vinile all’età di 16 anni, poi mi sono chiesta “Perché non provo con dei piatti professionali? E così è stato. Dopo 2 settimane, ho dato il mio primo party! Questo è stato l’inizio! La cosa divertente era che non sapevo mixare, ma ho organizzato lo stesso la festa, e sono venute 200 persone. Non ho mai pensato “Farò la DJ” … è successo e basta!

M: Dove hai cominciato per la prima volta a suonare? Ricordi le sensazioni di quella serata?
Fujiko: Nel 1992, eravamo in un piccolo negozio di nome “ANGEL” a Osaka, la mia città natale.

M: Quali sono le tue fonti di ispirazione musicale?
Fujiko: Ho cominciato con la musica HOUSE.

M: Che genere preferisci? Quali pezzi metti più spesso?
Fujiko: Mi piace suonare tutti i generi musicali, dipende dal mood e da come mi sento al momento, se attraente o sexy!

M: Hai trovato un posto in tutte queste città che ti somiglia maggiormente? Quale? Perchè?
Fujiko: Mi piace Milano, mi sento a mio agio qui, in particolare durante la settimana della moda. A Tokyo lavoro per una Fashion Boutique (Restir) come DJ per il negozio e curo anche il loro blog musicale. MUSICA & MODA!

M: Se parliamo di dj internazionali con chi ti piacerebbe collaborare in futuro?
Fujiko: Hmmm non saprei, forse vorrei fare uno UNIT DJ con i miei amici.

M: Qual è il locale che più di tutti ha segnato il tuo percorso e in cui ti piacerebbe tornare a suonare?
Fujiko: Sicuramente vorrei suonare ancora al party di TRUSSARDI, è stata una festa bellissima durante il Salone del Mobile! Non ho mai suonato al… PLASTIC di Milano!!!

M: Come trovi la scena musicale dance italiana?
Fujiko: Ho esperienza solo sulla scena musicale di Milano…  credo che la gente sia davvero coinvolta dalla musica e che ami le feste! Quando suono mi sento così bene, perché le persone sentono la mia musica e la ballano davvero!

M: Quanto la moda influisce nella definizione di un personaggio, di un musicista o dj?
Fujiko: Secondo me musica e moda sono sempre collegate.

We met Fujiko on the Alessandra Marchi’s fashion show, organised by White in February in cooperation with the City of Milan. Music has definitely changed the mood of the event, it was almost impossible to avoid moving to the rhythm of electro and house music played by the Japanese DJ Fujiko Takasugi. As a Dj, Fujiko has gained experiences in several international cities, starting from Kobe, passing through NY – where she lived and worked for clubs of the Big Apple for many years – returning to Tokyo and then reaching Milan and Shanghai for prestigious cooperation. Travelling certainly provides the basis for a universe of meetings and spurs which are essential for an artist, particularly for she who, like Fujiko, does her work enthusiastically, starting from the connection between two pieces up to establish the mood of an event. By now, sound design is fundamental in the definition and the success of a party. When there is the right music, it’s like an endless spur you cannot avoid, because it is a crescendo of feelings that let your body move with the greatest ease. Fujiko was invited for the first time in Milan in 2007 as a sound support for Ugo Cacciatori’s collection, then for the Salone del Mobile and famous parties in Milan such as “Punks wear Prada”, parties for Muse Magazine, Trussardi and so on. Besides these, Fujiko is also the Music director at Restir, A Japanese fashion shop, where she’s a coolhunter in the selection of the music broadcasted in the boutique. We interviewed her to know something more about her personality:

M: Have you ever dreamt of becoming a Dj, or did it happen by chance?
Fujiko: I started collecting vinyl when I was 16, then I asked myself “I should get the turntable, why not? ” and I got the turntable. After 2 weeks, I just threw my own party! That was the beginning! What was funny, was I couldn’t even mix but I organized the party and 200 people came over. I never thought “I’m gonna be DJ” …. it just happened !

M: Where did you start for the first time? Do you remember the feelings of that event?
Fujiko: In 1992, It was a little shop called “ANGEL” in Osaka, my home town.

M: Which are your music sources of inspiration?
Fujiko: I started from HOUSE music.

M: What’s your favourite genre? What pieces do you play more often?
Fujiko: At the moment, I like all genres. I like to play all kind of genres, whatever I feel groovy and sexy !

M: Did you find a place in these cities that resembles you? Which one? Why?
Fujiko: I like Milan, I feel very comfortable there, especially during the fashion week, since I work for a Fashion Boutique in Tokyo (Restir) as a DJ at the store and I’m in charge of the music blog. MUSIC & FASHION!

M: If we talk about International Djs, which one would you like to cooperate with in the future?
Fujiko: Hmmm I have no idea … maybe I would love to make a UNIT DJ with my friends.

M: What’s the club that left its mark in your experience and where you would like to play your music again?
Fujiko: I definitely wish to play again at the TRUSSARDI Party, it really was a cool party during Salone del Mobile! I never played at this place but … PLASTIC MILAN !!!

M: What do you think of the Italian dance music scene?
Fujiko: I only know the Milan scene… I think people really are into music and love to party! When I play my music I feel so good, because people feel my music and they really dance for that!

M: How fashion influences the definition of a character, a musician, or a dj?
Fujiko: Music and fashion are always linked, I think.
