Flavio Lucchini è invitato alla 54. Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte – la Biennale di Venezia, Padiglione Italia, Regione Lombardia, nella grande panoramica sull’arte italiana, a cura di Vittorio Sgarbi (giugno/novembre 2011 – Mantova, Palazzo Te).
Cosa accomuna le gigantesche pupe pop dei primi passi come artista, quando la ribellione alla moda la faceva rappresentare come un fenomeno da Luna-Park, ai raffinati bassorilievi in resina che raccontano gli abiti con un neo-classicismo “tra Canova e Jeff Koons”? Quale il sottile filo che collega i Toys di cubetti metallici colorati come giochi da bambino con gli inquietanti Burqa digitali? Quale visione della donna sta dietro gli austeri Totem e le sfrontate Dolls? Come si conciliano i quadri realizzati col pennello e quelli, vent’anni dopo, col mouse o, addirittura, le sequenze di silhouettes filiformi con i grattacieli ossessivi? Il discorso di un artista vive anche di apparenti incoerenze che sono la trasposizione dei suoi pensieri più intimi, in quel momento. Senza tradire se stesso, nonostante le contraddizioni. Flavio Lucchini non si sottrae al percorso evolutivo che è parte delle trasformazioni stilistiche di tanti artisti passati alla storia, Picasso per citarne uno per tutti. La mostra mette in scena la sintesi di un archivio che rappresenta vent’anni e più di lavoro e scardina le regole delle mostre d’arte che, ordinatamente, scelgono un tema e lo rappresentano in modo selettivamente ed esteticamente corretto. Qui le cento opere sono accatastate in voluto disordine, come si sovrappongono le une alle altre, appena finite, o rientrate dai laboratori, in atelier. Molti lavori hanno partecipato a mostre, o sono ora presenti, in contemporanea, alla 54° Biennale di Venezia, ma altri sono prove, maquette, inediti, continuamente rinnovati perché ogni giorno qualche opera esce dalla galleria e altre vi rientrano in un continuo turn-over come capita nella vita.

Flavio Lucchini is invited at the 54. International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia Italian Pavilion, Lombardy, in the great overview dedicated to Italian art, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi (June/ November 2011- Mantova, Palazzo Te) What is the connection between the huge pop dolls of the first years as an artist, when rebellion against fashion was represented as a Luna-Park phenomenon, and the refined resin bas-relief that represents dresses with a neoclassicism “between Canova and Jeff Koons”? What is the subtle link between the Toys, colourful metal cubes similar to children’s games, and the disturbing digital Burqa? What is the vision of the woman behind the austere Totem and the cheeky Dolls? How paintings can be related with the digital artworks made twenty years later, or, moreover, the sequences of wiry silhouettes and the obsessive skyscrapers? The language of an artist also lives on apparent inconsistencies that are the transposition of his inner thoughts in a particular moment. Without betraying himself, despite the contradictions. Flavio Lucchini doesn’t avoid the evolution path, that is part of stylistic transformations of many artists went down in history, such as Picasso just to mention one. The “20 years archive” exhibition shows the synthesis of a twenty years archive, and breaches the rules of other art exhibitions that choose a single theme, representing it in an organized, selective and aesthetically correct way. Here 100 artworks are stacked in a wanted disorder, as they pile up in the moment they are finished or come back in the artist studio. Many works have taken part in different exhibitions, or are now present, at the same time, at the 54th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia; others are sketches, mocks up, unpublished works, constantly updated, because every day a work goes out the gallery and others come in, in a constantly turn-over, as in everyday life.
