Non è difficile aspettarsi da un carattere forte un’idea molto definita di stile, Manuela Arcari oltre ad aver maturato una visione della moda dall’ampio spettro che la porta a definire una femminilità un pò ritrosa e dalla fermezza “antiromantica del maschile”, ha anche molto da dire a livello personale. Il carattere di una persona si manifesta inevitabilmente nelle sue creazioni, parti di sé vengono riflesse e trasmesse all’esterno in una sorta di processo espressivo che ne rende tangibili i pensieri e le sensazioni, facendole vibrare attraverso le proprie creazioni. E sicuramente di vibrazioni si tratta quando si parla della collezione Ter et Bantine in cui ogni taglio e outfit è composto in relazione al movimento corporeo, all’andamento della donna che lo indossa.

It is not difficult to expect a very definite idea of style from such a strong character: Beyond having gained a broad-spectrum fashion vision that led her to the definition of a little coy femininity and of a “male anti-romantic” firmness, Manuela Arcari has much to say on a personal level as well. The character of a person inevitably manifests itself in her creations, parts of ourselves are reflected and transmitted outside in a sort of expressive process that makes thoughts and feelings tangible, making them vibrate through our own creations. It certainly is when it comes to vibrations of the Ter et Bantine collection, where every cut and outfit is composed in relation to the body movement, to the pace of the woman who wears it.
La ricerca è alla base del processo creativo della stilista, le forme qui diventano definite, semplici, con tagli regolari che non lasciano dubbi; la certezza che la figura riflessa sia in ogni momento quella che verrà percepita all’esterno, una donna che immagina se stessa in pubblico, nel quotidiano atraverso tessuti e volumi. Non mancano però le sorprese, saranno forse dovute alla fucina creativa in cui tutto ha inizio, un ampio complesso in pietra immerso nel verde di una pineta in provincia di Ravenna, dove la natura fa da palcoscenico alla nascita di idee, le fa venire fuori senza che vi siano turbamenti sonori nell’atto creativo.

Research is the basis of the creative process of the designer, the shapes here become defined, simple, with regular cuts that leave no doubts; The confidence that the reflected figure will be at all times the one that will be perceived on the outside, a woman who imagines herself in public, in the everyday life through fabrics and volumes. Nevertheless there’s no lack of surprises, perhaps due to the creative hothouse where it all begins, a large complex of stone surrounded by a pine forest in the province of Ravenna, where nature is the stage for the birth of ideas and makes them come out without sonic disturbances in the act of creation.
Il silenzio però a volte va anche interrotto, per creare ritmi, così anche nella definizione dello stile il marchio presenta linee che vengono d’un tratto ammorbidite da materiali inusuali, la lana viene affiancata a piumini imbottiti, un vestito in tessuto lucido diventa espediente per scontrarsi a tasche con distinzione materiche che richiamano il suo opposto.
Ter et Bantine presenta una donna estremamente elegante, ma che sa anche innovare, non ha paura di toni forti così come di tessuti più ricettivi di luce che non temono la visibilità immediata. Se quindi da una parte appare come uno stile minimal quasi austero, ha sempre qualche dettaglio che definisce una donna con un forte senso del nuovo, del contrasto, coraggiosa nell’osare anche se in modo del tutto programmato con volumi definiti.
Manuela ha un’idea molto precisa che attraversa la sua vita privata fino al lavoro in un percorso molto simile: disciplina e gentilezza, una fermezza cortese che aiuta a portare avanti una visione dello stile coerente e dirompente.

But sometimes silence must be broken in order to create rhythms, so even in the definition of style the brand shows lines that are suddenly softened by unusual materials, wool is combined with padded duvets, a dress in a shiny fabric becomes expedient for contrasts to pockets with materic distinctions that attract their opposites.
Ter et Bantine presents a very elegant woman, but one who also likes to innovate, not afraid of strong tones as well as of fabrics which are more receptive to light and do not fear immediate visibility. So if on one side it appears as a minimalist, almost austere style, there is always some detail that defines a woman with a strong sense of the new, of contrast, brave in daring although so entirely programmed with defined volumes.
Manuela has a very clear idea that crosses her private life through to her working life in a very similar path: discipline and kindness, a polite firmness that helps to carry forward a vision of consistent and disruptive style.

White ha ospitato, in un’area speciale dedicata, alla pre-collection autunno-inverno 2011/2012 e la nuova linea di scarpe e borse di Ter et Bantine, firmata dalla designer bolognese Manuela Arcari.
Le collezioni erano presentate in uno spazio total-white sospeso nel tempo, caratterizzato da linee geometriche e arredi essenziali.
Uno spazio dove purezza e semplicità si ispirano alla natura, punto di partenza e tema dominante per raccontare la loro filosofia di vita e lavoro. Video-istallazioni, frasi di poeti, aforismi di filosofi e 
pensatori dedicati a temi esistenziali e universali saranno l’invito a fermarsi e a riflettere. Perché oggi, più che mai, ha ancora un senso ricordarsi che tutto ciò che ci circonda (la terra, il cielo, la libertà, il rispetto, la natura) è un patrimonio comune di cui non siamo padroni, ma custodi. Non un luogo espositivo, dunque, non uno spazio tradizionale, ma una scenografia emozionale e concettuale che svela la cifra e l’unicità di Ter et Bantine.

In a special area White hosted the autumn-winter 2011/2012 pre-collection and the new line of shoes and bags by Ter et Bantine, signed by designer Manuela Arcari from Bologna. The collections was presented in a total white space suspended in time, characterized by geometric lines and basic furnishings.
A place where purity and simplicity are inspired by nature, the starting point and dominant theme to tell their philosophy of life and work.
Video installations, words of poets, aphorisms of philosophers and thinkers devoted to existential and universal themes were an invitation to pause and reflect. Because today, more than ever, it makes sense to remember that everything that surrounds us (earth, sky, freedom, respect, nature) is a common heritage that we are not masters of, but guardians. Therefore not an exhibition and not a traditional space, but an emotional and conceptual scenery revealing the value and uniqueness of Ter et Bantine.
