La stilista cinese Uma Wang è stata la guest designer dell’ edizione di WHITE con un’esclusiva sfilata-evento nella storica e suggestiva Sala delle Cariatidi di Palazzo Reale a Milano, che si è svolta domenica 26 febbraio 2012, con il Patrocinio del Comune di Milano.

The Chinese designer Uma Wang was the guest designer for the February 2012 edition at WHITE Milan, with an exclusive fashion show-event in the historic and picturesque Room of the Caryatids at Palazzo Reale in Milan, with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan and which took place at 7.30pm on Sunday 26, February 2012.

La collezione Autunno/Inverno 2012 di Uma Wang si ispira alle anime erranti e nomadi del nostro tempo. Le sue origini multiple ci permettono di riconoscere che le nostre storie, i costumi e le culture non sono così incompatibili, permettendo così di ricollegare gli uni agli altri e di creare insieme nuove tradizioni ed estetiche. La collezione abbina diversi materiali e tagli che offrono forti contrasti fluidi e continui; le forme sono informi, permettendo ai capi di prendere la figura e la personalità di chi li indossa. A volte i capi sono parzialmente distrutti per dare una sensazione di imperfetto ma umano, permettendo a noi stessi di relazionarci ed entrare in risonanza con i vestiti. |
Uma Wang’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection is inspired by displaced, wandering, nomadic souls of the present time. Its multiple origins allow us to recognize that our histories, customs and cultures are not so incompatible, allowing as well to reconnect to one another and create new traditions and aesthetics together. The collection juxtaposes different materials and cuts, which offer sharp contrasts that are flowing and continuous; the shapes are shapeless, allowing the garments to take on the form and personality of the wearer. Sometimes the garments are partially destroyed to give an imperfect yet very human feeling to each of them and allowing the self to relate to and resonate with the clothes. |
| Dopo i suoi studi alla China Textile University a Shanghai, Uma Wang ha fatto il suo debutto nella moda nel 1996 come stilista per diversi brand locali. La sua vasta esperienza accumulata negli anni insieme a quelli passatI al Central Saint Martins College a Londra, la portano a creare il suo marchio. Nel 2005 Uma presenta la sua prima collezione ready-to-wear durante PURE a Londra.Il suo forte è la sua sensibilità nei confronti della maglieria e la sua abilità nel mischiare e accoppiarla con diversi tessuti per creare dei pezzi forti con dei dettagli sottili. La sua passione per l’arte e la sua attrazione per il vintage è una fonte d’ispirazione molto forte. | After her studies at the China Textile University in Shanghai, Uma Wang made her debut in fashion in 1996 as designer for different domestic brands. The vast experience she gained during these years as well as the time she spent at the Central Saint Martins College in London, leads her to aspire to launch her own label. In 2005 Uma Wang presents her first ready-to-wear collection during PURE London. Her signature is her sensibility towards knitwear and the ability of mixing and matching it with fabrics and textures to create strong garments with subtle detailing. Her passion for art and the affection for vintage is a strong inspiration font |
